Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan's national cricket team, now has the most runs scored by a batsman in a year.
The Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand is now taking place at The National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
In addition to his outstanding performance during the game, Babar Azam also achieved the distinction of becoming the Pakistani batsman with the most runs scored in a calendar year.
Mohammad Yousuf, the national team's batting coach at the time, still holds the record for most runs scored in a single international game in a calendar year.
Muhammad Yusuf amassed a total of 2435 runs in 2006. This record has now been broken by Babar Azam after 16 years.
Saeed Anwar had racked up 2296 runs in a calendar year in 1996 before Mohammad Yousuf.
The batsman from Pakistan who has scored the fourth-most runs in a year is Mohammad Yousuf, who amassed 2226 runs in 2002.
In 2000, international competitions produced 2164 runs for Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Sarfaraz Ahmed's fifty in Test matches.
From January 11 to January 14, 2019, Sarfraz last competed against South Africa in Johannesburg.
50 Test matches have been played by former captain and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed.
Despite being a part of the national team for the Test series against England, wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed was not included in any of the contests.
Since the first test, Muhammad Rizwan's batting abilities have been questioned.
Former cricket players also advocated for the inclusion of Sarfraz over Mohammad Rizwan in the starting lineup, but this was not done.
Mohammad Rizwan has been replaced in the starting XI for the first game of the Test series against New Zealand by Sarfraz Ahmed following the arrival of the new selection committee.
As a result, Sarfaraz's current Test match in Karachi is also his 50th game overall.
From January 11 to January 14, 2019, Sarfaraz competed in his final match in Johannesburg versus South Africa.
With the help of three hundreds and 18 fifty-pluses, the wicket-keeper batter amassed 2657 runs in 49 Test matches.
